ABOUT THE BRIGHTON WOLVES ACADEMY

The WOLFPACK Academy has been designed and will be delivered by the Brighton Wolves coaching staff.

The program has been created to support the ongoing development of our ‘wolfpack’ athletes, helping players build skills, confidence and game understanding beyond standard team training.

The WOLFPACK Academy has been developed to support Brighton Wolves players who want to keep improving.

  • Brighton Wolves players who are motivated to improve and push towards playing in higher divisions.
  • Rep players who want to continue developing their skills

We believe every player who is willing to work deserves access to quality coaching and development. The Academy provides that opportunity in a structured, supportive and challenging environment.

THE ACADEMY pilot program has been designed for all Brighton Wolves U10, U12 & U14 players (male and female) who want to improve their individual basketball skills or aspire to play Rep Basketball. Running as a 5 week pilot program, the success of the program will see it open up to U8 & U14's over a 10 week program starting in term 3.

The pilot program is designed for Brighton Wolves U10, U12 & U14 players, regardless of their current skill set, who want to improve their individual basketball skills. It is ideal for:

  • Players currently in rep teams
  • Players aspiring to play rep or higher divisions
  • Passionate wolves who love the game and are looking for more opportunities to improve

Players develop at different rates but effort, attitude and a willingness to learn are key.

THE ACADEMY supports players who are wanting to improve their individual skills. It provides the structure, coaching and environment required to develop the skills and habits needed to progress.

We provide the plan, coaching and environment.
Players provide the effort and attitude.

The Brighton Wolves Academy is designed to deliver individual development tailored to your experience and age group. Team training focuses on systems and team play. THE ACADEMY focuses on the individual athlete.

THE ACADEMY caters to

  • Beginner players building foundations
  • Intermediate players developing consistency
  • Advanced players refining skills and decision-making

Sunday mornings from 8am (1-hour sessions)
Friday night sessions from 5pm are available for girls who can’t attend Sundays and for those wanting additional training.

The Academy will run a 5 week pilot program from Friday 22 May 2026. Sessions are once a in week in one hour blocks.

Additional sessions may be available for players wanting extra training and that can be discussed with the club if that is of interest.

Where possible, players will be grouped by age and general ability.

However, THE ACADEMY is designed to work more like a training environment where players develop at their own level within the same session.

Think of it like a yoga class. Everyone is working on the same focus, but at a level that suits their ability.

  • Some players are building fundamentals.
  • Others are refining and extending their skills.

The structure allows coaches to challenge each player individually, ensuring everyone is progressing regardless of where they’re starting.

Each session is capped at 18 athletes, divided into:

  • 3 stations with 15 min focus
  • 6 players per group
  • 1 coach per station
  • 1 Head Coach overseeing all sessions

That’s a 1:6 coach-to-player ratio, ensuring strong attention and feedback.

Across the 5 weeks, The Academy will focus on

  • Shooting
  • Defence
  • Ball handling
  • Passing
  • Footwork

Focused. Competitive. Supportive.

The coaching methodology is to build skill through repetition of drills. That may take 1 session for one child and 10 for another and that is ok!

We expect athletes to bring effort, respect their teammates and coaches, be open and willing to work hard.

There will be energy. There will be sweat. There will be improvement.

Yes.
Players receive real-time coaching feedback throughout every session.
The program allows players to train at their own pace, with coaches adjusting feedback and challenges to suit each individual, helping them get the best possible outcomes from their training.

Effort and attitude are non-negotiable. Improvement comes from commitment. Athletes are expected to train with intent, ask questions, respect teammates and coaches, and take responsibility for their development.

$100 per Wolf for 5 sessions (pilot - $25 per session)

Yes. Term fees are paid upfront to secure your child’s place.

A great work ethic, a basketball, towel and water bottle. Most importantly - bring your A game!

That's ok, we know things happen but we ask you to let The Academy know as soon as possible.

Make-up sessions may be available for your child on Friday night or a second Sunday session if space allows.

FUTURE PLANS

The Brighton Wolves WOLFPACK Academy will begin as a pilot program.

The long-term vision is for THE ACADEMY to grow into a full 10-week program, supporting players across multiple teams and age groups within the club.

As the program evolves, it will become a key part of how we:

  • develop our athletes
  • support player progression
  • create opportunities for players to improve within a consistent Wolves framework

Our goal is to build something that is structured, purposeful and aligned to the way we want our players to train and compete, whilst still creating an environment that is enjoyable and engaging for young athletes.
